Wally Lamb is the author of seven\u00a0New York Times\u00a0<\/em>bestselling novels: The River Is Waiting<\/em>,\u00a0I\u2019ll Take You There<\/em>,\u00a0We Are Water<\/em>,\u00a0Wishin\u2019 and Hopin\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0The Hour I First Believed<\/em>,\u00a0I Know This Much Is True<\/em>, and\u00a0She\u2019s Come Undone<\/em>. Lamb also edited\u00a0Couldn\u2019t Keep It to Myself<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0I\u2019ll Fly Away<\/em>, two volumes of essays from students in his writing workshop at York Correctional Institution, a women\u2019s prison in Connecticut, where he was a volunteer facilitator for twenty years. Lamb is a Connecticut native who holds Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in teaching from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing degree from Vermont College. Lamb was in the ninth year of his twenty-five year career as a high school English teacher at his alma mater, the Norwich Free Academy, when he began to write fiction in 1981. From 1997 to 1999, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut, where he directed the English Department\u2019s creative writing program. Wally and his wife Christine have three sons and five grandchildren. They met when they were high school freshmen and have been married for 47 years.<\/p>\n
